ABOUT LIT

Transformative leadership and life skills training that creates lasting change.

EQUIPPING LIVES.
BUILDING LEADERS. EMPOWERING FUTURES.

Leaders in Training (LIT) is a mission-driven nonprofit organization committed to developing strong leaders and equipping individuals with essential life skills. Through thoughtfully designed, multi-week class series, we provide transformative leadership and life-skills training for teens from all backgrounds and for adults facing systemic barriers—meeting people where they are and empowering them to move forward with confidence.

Our programs equip participants with the tools they need to claim or reclaim their lives, discover their potential, and build futures filled with purpose and possibility. Rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a bright future, LIT exists to ensure that—through the right support, education, and encouragement—growth and transformation are always possible.

MISSION

To build leaders, empower futures, and equip lives through intentional leadership development, life skills education, and prevention-focused programming.

VISION

A world where every individual—regardless of background, circumstance, or past experience—has the tools, confidence, and support needed to lead themselves and positively impact others.

WHAT WE DO

LIT provides structured, age-appropriate, and situation-responsive programs that focus on three core areas:

  • Leadership Development – cultivating self-awareness, confidence, responsibility, and purpose

  • Life Skills – strengthening decision-making, communication, emotional intelligence, and goal-setting

  • Prevention & Awareness – promoting healthy choices, resilience, and long-term well-being

Our programs are designed to be practical, relatable, and impactful—helping participants apply what they learn both immediately and long after the program ends.

WHO WE SERVE

LIT proudly serves diverse and often underserved populations, including:

  • Students and youth in school-based settings

  • Individuals in juvenile justice systems

  • Adults in jail, recovery, and reentry programs

  • Community members navigating high-risk or transitional life circumstances

Every program is intentionally designed to be developmentally appropriate and sensitive to the unique challenges and realities of each group we serve.

OUR APPROACH

Our approach is relational, flexible, and deeply collaborative. We work with teachers, certified growth coaches, juvenile detention officers, and community leaders to develop standard lesson packs addressing relative and imperative issues impacting today’s generation. We also work closely with partner organizations to customize class offerings that align with the needs of their populations. We provide training for facilitators, comprehensive curriculum materials, and outcome-driven frameworks to ensure our shared success.

WHY IT MATTERS
Leadership and life skills are foundational to breaking cycles, restoring hope, and creating lasting change. When individuals are equipped to lead themselves, they are better prepared to make healthy decisions, build positive relationships, and contribute meaningfully to their families and communities.

At Leaders in Training, we are committed to ensuring no one is left behind—and everyone is given the opportunity to live a bright future.

As a certified growth coach and experienced communicator, Sheila has a passion for helping leaders of all ages and stages embrace a big, bright future and make it a reality, one step at a time. With encouragement from her friend Jen at the Hope Center, Sheila wrote the LIT curriculum for one middle school and enjoys watching the mission come to life across multiple schools.

Sheila is a mama to three girls and the proud wife to Matt. Sheila and her family live in the woods of Indiana and enjoy the homeschool life with their many animals.

Genevieve is a content creator, curriculum developer, teacher, and speaker. She is passionate about helping others discover their worth and purpose, see the beauty in difficult situations, and pursue their unique calling.

Genevieve lives in the Dallas Metroplex with her husband, Caleb, and their two sons, Ethan and Carter. In addition to running a ministry with Caleb and homeschooling their boys, she enjoys spending time outdoors, cheering on her favorite sports teams, reading, writing, and experimenting in the kitchen.

Grahm is a Middle School Special Education Teacher that works with seventh graders in Math and English. He instructs middle school LIT classes and ensures the curriculum is engaging and relevant.

Grahm enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling with his wife, Julie, and children, Gideon and Magnolia.

Haley plays a vital role in advancing LIT’s mission by helping the team stay focused, organized, and aligned as we build leaders, empower futures, and equip lives.

Haley lives on an operating sheep and cattle ranch in West Texas with her Husband, Luke, and their two girls. As a stay-at-home homeschooling mama and ranch wife, she enjoys the little moments with her family, whether it's spontaneous dance parties in the living room to worship music, piling into the pickup or tractor with her husband and girls to spend time with him working, or baking in the kitchen with her littles. Spending quality time with family and friends is her favorite.
